Investigating Accountant's Reports
While Investigating Accountant’s Reports (or “IAR”) can cover a multitude of areas, their main purpose is for an independent person to report on particular concerns raised, generally by a lender or investor. These concerns are generally in relation to the financial position of a company, past or projected, and often focus on the value of security that creditors may have in relation to their debts.

Our commitment to you

In undertaking any assignment involving an investigating accountant’s report, it is important that the report specifically addresses the concerns and risks of that business and any interested stakeholders, providing a more cost effective outcome for the client and other parties. As with all our assignments, we maintain an impartial approach towards evaluating the business and undertake strict levels of confidentiality.

Types of Assignments undertaken

As with all our assignments, our aim is to provide a cost-effective, independent and unbiased report on a particular business, outlining not only the financial position of that business but also any other matters we feel relevant to the assignment. Some of the areas that we might cover in an Investigating Accountant’s Report include:

  • Analysis of past trading performance
  • Review of trading budgets and cash flow projections
  • Review of market and trading opportunities and strengths, as well as weaknesses and threats
  • Financial position of the company and the funds available for creditors and shareholders
  • Review of assets available for secured creditors

All our assignments are based on agreed programs or scoping documents, so that all parties are in agreement with the expected outcomes.

Some of the assignments undertaken over the last few years include:

Civil Engineering – performance review at request of National Australia Bank, including reconstruction of accounts, analysis of financial position and recommendations for future trading.

Manufacturing – preparation of Investigating Accountant’s Report, with the support of National Australia Bank, with recommendations for business turnaround, performance monitoring and introduction of KPI’s. Assistance with weekly management meetings and funding proposals.
